Simi Valley Acorn
The project falls under the site’s maximum allowable density of 114 homes, with about 75% of the property remaining landscaped or open space.
Plans call for removing five protected trees during grading—three valley oaks, one coast live oak and one Aleppo pine —along with other mature trees on the property.
“I was disappointed in reviewing the plans to see the proposed removal of all mature trees on the site,” Klick said.
“I just ask that the commission consider a way to preserve at least two of these trees, the valley oaks closest to Cochran.”
“I would hope that when you landscape, you work really hard with the city landscaper to put in some native trees and native plants.”
