The Mecklenburg County High School golf team finished second for Coach David Allgood in a tri-match at Central of Lunenburg in the season opener on Friday. Randolph-Henry edged the Phoenix in a close finish with a 161 total while Mecklenburg fired a 162 and Lunenburg finished with a 171 total. Sophomores Braydon Shriver and Case Jones led the Phoenix with a 39 in the nine-hole match while junior Carter Brankley fired a 41 and senior Jake Wesson shot a 43. Senior Aiden Reed finished with a 45 while junior Tyler Harris fired a 50.
