Tarek Anthonyoregonlive.com(TNS)A Klamath Falls man was killed Thursday after fast-moving flames overtook the bulldozer he was operating while battling the Wrights Spring fire in central Klamath County.
“The ongoing threat from wildfires throughout Oregon became all too deadly once again today with the tragic loss of dozer operator Jason Ensign working the Wrights Spring Fire in Klamath County,” Wyden said.
The Wrights Spring fire was first reported Wednesday afternoon and quickly grew to 3,100 acres by Thursday morning as high temperatures and strong winds complicated suppression efforts.
With the Wrights Spring fire growing to more than 19,200 acres overnight Friday with no containment, Gov.
Evacuation centers for residents have opened at Chiloquin Elementary School, while a shelter for large animals has opened at the Klamath County Fairgrounds in Klamath Falls.
