Supermassive - the UK studio best known for its cinematic horror games including Until Dawn, The Quarry, and the Dark Pictures Anthology series - has announced more layoffs, this time affecting as many as 75 employees. In July 2025, it announced layoffs affecting up to 36 employees, saying the move was necessary to "adapt our team structure to better align with recent industry changes". That followed confirmation of a "reorganisation" in February 2024, which the company said would impact "some" of its team. Supermassive most recently released its cinematic sci-fi horror adventure Directive 8020, the fifth entry in its Dark Pictures Anthology series, which launched to mixed reviews in May. That was preceded by Little Nightmares 3 last October, which saw Supermassive take over the much-loved horror series from original studio Tarsier with equally mixed results.
