From Adanna Nnamani, AbujaThe Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has raised the alarm over the proliferation of fake and artificial intelligence (AI)-generated employment letters being circulated in the name of the Commission. The NUPRC said it had reported the activities of the suspected fraudsters to relevant law enforcement agencies and was awaiting the outcome of investigations. It urged members of the public to exercise caution and verify any purported recruitment offer before taking further steps to avoid falling victim to the scam. “The NUPRC states categorically that there is no ongoing recruitment exercise at the Commission,” it said. The NUPRC therefore advised job seekers and members of the public to disregard any purported employment offer or recruitment process that does not emanate through the Commission’s authorised channels.
