A Swiss woman, aged 41, was shot in the chest yesterday resisting a mugging in Lisbon’s Baixa district. According to Correio da Manhã tabloid, she was approached by two men – known to police for being dealers of ‘fake hashish’ – who began to harass her. “The tourist fell to the ground, but was rapidly assisted by INEM (emergency medical response) and taken to hospital.” The Baixa district is extremely popular with visitors, full of history – and a centre for restaurants, boutique hotels and souvenir shops.
