Iran Restores Gas Production at Strategic South Pars Field After US-Israeli StrikeIran has restored 60 million cubic metres per day (mcm/d) of natural gas production at its strategic South Pars gas field after repairing facilities damaged during US-Israeli attacks, according to officials in Bushehr province.
South Pars, the world’s largest natural gas field shared between Iran and Qatar (where it is known as the North Field), supplies the majority of Iran’s domestic natural gas and plays a vital role in electricity generation, industrial production and household energy needs.
The attacks on South Pars earlier this year temporarily knocked out a substantial portion of Iran’s gas production capacity.
Israeli strikes in March targeted onshore South Pars processing plants, knocking out approximately 230 million cubic metres per day of production — equivalent to roughly 35% of Iran’s daily sales gas output of around 650 million cubic metres.
He confirmed that about 100 million cubic metres of lost capacity is expected to return to production within the next few months.
