A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Emmanuel Nwobo, has alleged that most of the atrocities being committed in the state are carried out by aides of the governor. Nwobo, while speaking on the situation in the state, said he found it difficult to believe that Governor Francis Nwifuru was unaware of the alleged attacks and intimidation directed at opposition figures. The PDP chieftain also alleged that statements had been circulated on social media suggesting that opposition political parties would not be allowed to operate in Ebonyi. “I don’t want to believe the Governor is not aware of what is happening,” Nwobo said. However, the allegations made by Nwobo are claims by the PDP chieftain, and no independent evidence was provided in the statement to substantiate his accusations against the governor’s aides.
