City approves $1.2 million in upgrades to MRAC

The Moab City Council, in a split vote, approved over $1.2 million in upgrades for the Moab Recreation and Aquatic Center Tuesday, July 28, following an extended discussion over whether the city should conduct a separate competitive bidding process for the work.

The approved work is intended to extend the life of the 15-year-old building by replacing aging mechanical systems before they fail.
The project includes mechanical, plumbing, ventilation, lighting and other building upgrades identified during a recent facility assessment.
