The riverside resort has no plant operator and was reportedly not monitoring water quality. The Utah Division of Drinking Water ordered Sorrel River Ranch to “immediately cease operation of its surface water treatment plant” July 31, effectively shutting down the riverside resort on Highway 128. Rain falls on Sorrel River Ranch Resort on Sept. 12. The state has effectively shuttered the business due to water quality concerns. Lunstad said the plant, which uses treated Colorado River water, ran for several weeks without a certified operator.
