Construction crews are blasting rock as site preparation for the $1.2 billion USA Rare Earth manufacturing facility moves forward. Work began in mid-July on the 129-acre Bailey Park industrial site in Blacksburg, just weeks after announcing plans to locate in Cherokee County. The company will make magnets and metals used in defense projects, aerospace, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and energy.
