Bringing everyone’s compulsory high school reading to the stage, the Tony Award-winning musical “The Great Gatsby” graced Boston with a stop on its national tour.
All this is witnessed and influenced by Nick Carraway and Jordan Baker (Leanne Robinson), whose love story has just begun.
The cast’s vocal talent was undeniable, with Howland’s score constantly allowing them to showcase their classically trained musical theater belts.
The striking scene of Tom and Gatsby fighting over Daisy in a hotel room was made all the more impactful by strategic blocking and direction.
Though not a flawless book-to-stage adaptation, “The Great Gatsby” is more than enjoyable and deserving of being on stage in Boston’s season roster.
