(Victoria Humane Society)Thirty-four animals rescued from wildfire-affected areas near Williams Lake have found temporary safety in Greater Victoria after an emergency transport brought them out of the Central Cariboo last week.
The Victoria Humane Society (VHS) took in 13 puppies, one adult dog and 20 kittens on Wednesday (Aug. 5) after northern rescue partners reached out for help as wildfires threatened communities and animals in the region.
Following a long journey through smoky conditions, VHS volunteers met their B.C.
rescue partners in Tsawwassen and brought the animals safely to Victoria.
“Once they arrived, more VHS volunteers were ready with food, baths, meds, and plenty of cuddles,” the society said in its Aug. 5 Facebook post.
