Maybe it is the fault of computer simulation and AI finding cheap ways to produce programming by using mediocre plots and substandard writing. Maybe seeing people watching reality TV convinced programmers viewers would watch anything, so they quit trying. Maybe my brain finally matured and the stuff I’ve always liked wasn’t very good to begin with. Beer commercials have always been the gold standard for advertising—early Miller Light, Budweiser Clydesdales, the Swedish Bikini Team, and those great Gabe and Walker ads for Falstaff. I’m not sure what the message is, but I’m pretty sure no one is willing to camp out at an auto dealership.
