The Darral Lane Foundation held its 14th annual backpack drive, Operation Pack for Success Saturday, August 1, passing out school supplies and backpacks to students in local neighborhoods. Darral Lane Sr. passed away on duty as a Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2007. The foundation is run by Lane’s sons, Darius, a basketball player at Richland Northeast and Benedict College and now sports director at Fort Jackson; and Darral Jr. a financial and varsity assistant coach at Richland Northeast.
