— Mrs. Susan Irene (Owens) Schmid passed away suddenly at her home in North East, Maryland on June 28, 2026. She was the devoted wife of Vernon Schmid and loving mother of Susanna and Mary Schmid. Susan graduated from Parsons High School and earned her associate degree from Parsons Junior College, now known as Labette Community College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Schmid; her parents, Glennice B. and William F. (Bill) Owens; and her sisters, Linda Owens Gray and Sharon Owens Cotter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vernon and Susan Schmid Memorial Scholarship at Labette Community College.
