Cortney Charles passed away July 26, 2026, at the age of 61. She was born Sept. 13, 1964, in Parsons, to Hugh Charles and Carole (Breneman) Charles. Her father said he wore out three cars taking Cortney to the roller rink, where she loved to skate. Red Cross featured Cortney in one of its newsletters, describing her pride in being able to save so many lives in such an easy manner. Cortney was preceded in death by her father Hugh Charles and her step-father Jerry Hanvey.
