Prolific Antiguan author Joanne Hillhouse has been named on the list of 13 Caribbean writers being considered for the 2026 Elizabeth Nunez Award Caribbean-American Writer’s Prize.
The Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival (BCLF) announced that this year brought one of the highest volumes of submissions to date, and their judges “spent weeks in careful conversation, moving through stories that challenged us, moved us, and revealed truths only these writers could tell”.
Along with Hillhouse, writers who were longlisted in the celebrated literary festival were drawn from Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Jamaica, Martinique and Trinidad & Tobago.
Holiday J’ouvert is the name of Hillhouse’s entry for this year’s short fiction story contest.
The shortlist is expected to be announced “very soon”.
