The exhibition examines the life of Stein, a 20th-century modernist writer, through household items and photographs. The Daily Texan spoke with exhibition curator Sophie Oliver about the exhibition and Stein’s impact on the world. The Daily Texan: Can you start by telling me a little bit about the “Worlds of Gertrude Stein” exhibition? Sophie Oliver: One of the worlds of the exhibition is her home, the home that she shared with Alice Toklas that they made together. Toklas was her lifelong partner and really key to Stein’s writing life, because she provided this sense of domestic stability; she made it possible for Stein to write.
