Firefighters with Cal Fire working the Timber Fire in Monterey County said Monday night that the blaze is moving at a slow rate of spread as it holds at 1,723 acres and 5% containment. The fire, which is in the Big Sur area, is burning along the ground through grass, brush and oak woodland but has not moved to treetops, according to Cal Fire.
