Due to the Gostivar water contamination case, the Ombudsperson Faton Selami has requested that residents of the city be exempted from paying water bills. A recommendation will be sent to the Council of the Municipality of Gostivar and other surrounding local self-government units that use the services of the local Komunalec (public utilities) Public Enterprise not to pay the water fee during the period in which it is banned for drinking. However, for now, there has been no decision to put it on the Council’s agenda, nor do local authorities know when a session will be held. Meanwhile, the water is still unsafe for drinking.
