Rogers smashes record in Glasgow triumphCanadian hammer thrower Camryn Rogers successfully defended her Commonwealth Games title Tuesday, delivering a record breaking performance in Glasgow to add another gold medal to an already remarkable collection of international honours. The Richmond, B.C., athlete, who entered the competition as the reigning Olympic, world and Commonwealth champion, produced a throw of 74.91 metres on her final attempt to establish a new Commonwealth Games record. She had already secured the gold medal before stepping into the circle for her final attempt, but still produced the winning record. Rogers’ victory highlighted another successful day for Canada at the Commonwealth Games. In the pool, Kylie Masse claimed gold in the women’s 50 metre backstroke in 27.32 seconds for her 11th career Commonwealth Games medal.
