During Monday night’s meeting, the Bangs City Council voted unanimously to hold a special election Nov. 3 to fill the unexpired terms of mayor and one city council seat. Former mayor Steve Whittenburg and former council member Melissa Drury resigned during the July 13 council meeting . The seven-member board did not have enough members for a quorum and could not meet prior to Monday’s council meeting. The bylaws of the City state EDC members are appointed by the City Council, and the EDC members select their own officers. A tax rate of .5788 cents per $100 valuation was debated, which the current tax rate for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
