The recognition honors band programs across North Carolina for excellence both in performance and in areas including participation, advocacy and community involvement.
This is the first year the North Carolina Bandmasters Association has recognized Programs of Distinction.
Under the direction of band director Kimberley Benson, Polk County High students spent the 2025-26 school year rehearsing, performing, and participating in community events while maintaining high musical and academic standards.
“We are grateful for the band families, administrators, teachers, alumni, community members, local businesses, and the Polk County Community Foundation who consistently support our band program.
