“UK Regulator Reprimands Radio Caroline After False King Charles Death Announcement”A UK radio station has been found to have breached broadcasting rules after it mistakenly announced the death of King Charles III, months after the incident triggered confusion among listeners and forced the station to issue an on-air correction.
The broadcaster, Radio Caroline, accidentally transmitted pre recorded material announcing that the King had died during an afternoon programme on May 19, 2026.
The incident occurred while King Charles III was alive and carrying out official engagements alongside Queen Camilla during a visit to Northern Ireland.
Radio Caroline manager Peter Moore later apologized to King Charles and members of the audience, describing the incident as the result of a computer error.
Radio Caroline, historically known for its origins as a pirate broadcaster, now operates as a licensed radio station.
