Spread the loveIt’s the update on K9 Ace everyone has been waiting for since late last week when the K9 officer with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office had been shot repeated times and critically wounded while protecting his human deputies from harm. The seven-year-old German shepherd had to have his front left leg amputated as a result of severe arterial damage. K9 Ace absorbed the gunshots; his handler (Deputy Sheriff Oestreich) and two other deputies were unharmed. Deputy Oestreich never left his side. And now barely three days later, on August 9, sheriff deputy vehicles lined up to celebrate the dog’s homecoming.
