Malawi Parliament Set to Host 300-Plus Commonwealth African Delegates

ShareListen to this articleBy Suleman ChiteraLILONGWE — Malawi Parliament is set to host more than 300 delegates from across the Commonwealth Africa Region as the country prepares to welcome parliamentary leaders for a major conference aimed at strengthening cooperation among legislatures.
Speaker of Parliament Honourable Sameer Suleman has welcomed delegations arriving from South Africa, Mauritius, Sierra Leone and Nigeria ahead of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region Conference and Annual General Meeting in Lilongwe.
The high-level gathering is expected to bring together Presidents of Parliaments, Speakers, Senators and other parliamentary representatives from across the region.
The conference will officially open on Wednesday, August 12, at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The meeting provides Malawi with an opportunity to showcase its parliamentary institutions while contributing to regional discussions on strengthening legislative cooperation, democratic governance and effective parliamentary systems.
