Read our Privacy noticeNew research indicates that August is the worst month for drink-drive crashes, as summer socialising provides "more opportunities" to take to the wheel after consuming alcohol. An analysis by the RAC revealed that an average of 721 people were killed or injured in drink-drive collisions during August between 2014 and 2024. Statistics revealed last year showed that almost 100 motorists a day were caught drink-driving in Britain across the past three years. A total of 108,000 drivers received drink-drive licence endorsements from 2022 to 2024, an average of 99 per day.
