Published 3:16 pm Monday, August 10, 2026James Daniel “Dan” Thomas Jr. died on August 7, 2026, after a courageous, but short, battle with cancer. Dan was a member of Capital City Christian Church for nearly 30 years, where youth group kids of the early 2000s knew him as Big Daddy Dan. In the fight for his life, and in his death, he remained a steady and good role model we are proud to follow. A visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Wear your favorite super hero or comic book shirt and bring a fun Dan story to share.
