Unemployment assistance remains available for Mississippi victims of Tropical Storm Arthur. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security announced Monday that residents of Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, and Stone counties could qualify for disaster unemployment assistance. Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency estimate that the storm damaged 532 homes, 17 businesses, and five farms. According to state officials, disaster unemployment assistance is for individuals whose employment or self-employment has been lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster. “The Disaster Assistance Period begins June 21, 2026, through February 6, 2027.
