After Khan Suri Ruling, Supporters Remain Cautiously Optimistic

Nader Hashemi — director of Georgetown’s Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU), which employs Khan Suri — said the ruling granted Khan Suri and the ACMCU some clarity on his immediate status.
Khan Suri remains at risk of deportation, even as he is free from detention, as his immigration case proceeds.
Khan Suri said in February that he is grateful for the community’s support amid his ongoing cases.
Izzy Volpe (SFS ’28), who organized multiple fundraising efforts for Khan Suri and took his course in Fall 2025, said the ruling comforted students’ worries that Khan Suri could be redetained at any moment.
Schnabel added that one of the most important goals for student supporters is garnering greater attention to Khan Suri’s case on campus.
