By Popoola Jamiu, AbeokutaOgun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced the successful rescue of seven students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Remo North, who were abducted from their hostel by unknown gunmen. The students were rescued alive by joint security operatives of the Ogun State Command, in collaboration with the school management and the local community, while two suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation. Abiodun said the seven abducted students were rescued alive, while the two suspected kidnappers arrested during the operation were in police custody. He explained that the state government launched an intensive search-and-rescue operation immediately after the students were abducted on July 29, 2026. The helicopter, working with the ground forces, stormed the kidnappers’ den and rescued the remaining two victims,” the commissioner revealed.
