This focus on individuals was something that new Oregon State University football Head Coach Shephard made clear was a priority at the first fall camp of the season. OSU’s fall camp began Aug. 5 – the first camp under Shephard and the first opening fall camp to be held in Reser Stadium in decades. “You have to be able to focus on the whole part of every single person on this team,” Shephard said, specifically mentioning his focus on academic success of the athletes. According to Shephard, OSU’s coaches will sit down with every player individually at that time to tell them what their roles will be this year. “This is what got Oregon State back on the map,” Shephard said regarding what he wanted the story of the season to be.
