As one of Oregon State University’s seven cultural centers, kaku-ixt mana ina haws has long served as a place for Native American, Indigenous and Pacific Islander students to build community.
Before officially beginning her role, Sederlin attended OSU’s annual Salmon Bake and Pow-Wow, where she was given a shell necklace she can be seen wearing.
Sederlin said she believes that an important aspect of the center is making sure students feel welcome and supported.
“Throughout my career and life experiences, my trajectory has been shaped by navigating different cultural frameworks, teaching and engaging with diverse communities,” Sederlin said.
