According to the American Psychological Association, higher social media use is associated with poorer mental health among teens, with 41% reporting poor or very poor mental health also reporting the highest social media use. I went to bed realizing that maybe I didn’t need Instagram as much as I thought I did. Without social media, these activities no longer felt like things I should do, but things I genuinely wanted to do. However, whenever I found myself alone, I couldn’t stop wondering what I might be missing online. Deleting Instagram didn’t magically solve all of my problems; however, stepping away reminded me that I’m more intentional than I give myself credit for.
