Veteran entertainer John Michael “Hollywood” Howson celebrated his 90th birthday on the weekend. Columnist Craig Bennett, joined here by Annette Allison, posted on Facebook, “We chortled relentlessly about our years in Hollywood …living down the hall from each other, and decades of hijinks and shenanigans. Memory sharp as a tack, reminding me of wild and wonderful stories I’d long forgotten!” Howson’s eclectic -and sometimes controversial- career as writer, producer, performer and broadcaster spans more than 60 years, notably featuring on The Magic Circle Club, Adventure Island and The Mike Walsh Show.
