Morocco’s Royal Football Federation (FRMF) has banned private football academies and schools across the country from using the names of foreign clubs, including those operating through partnerships or other affiliations, as part of efforts to strengthen domestic player development..
In a statement issued on Sunday, the FRMF said the decision is part of its work to establish a national framework for the organization and management of private football academies and schools in Morocco.
The ban applies to the creation of any new academy or football school bearing the name of a foreign club, regardless of whether it has a partnership or any other type of relationship with that club.
The measure is based on studies conducted on national organizational and strategic models for football development and is intended to reinforce local training, promote national coaching expertise, and ensure the autonomy of private football academies, according to the FRMF.
The federation added that the move aligns with Morocco’s broader strategy for football development and aims to provide an environment conducive to training future generations of footballers.
