Colorado’s Aspen Acres Fire has scorched more than 41,000 hectares as firefighters increasingly turn to repairing damage caused by weeks of firefighting operations, U.S. fire officials said, according to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP).
The Aspen Acres Fire in southern Colorado is the largest of several major wildfires that have burned across the state this summer.
Crews have been removing temporary fire lines, spreading vegetation debris, restoring disturbed soil, and improving drainage to reduce erosion in areas damaged during firefighting operations.
Evacuation orders and precautionary measures have been lifted, allowing residents and visitors to begin returning to affected areas.
Separately, a wildfire in northern Colorado killed a 45-year-old woman and critically injured a 48-year-old man on Saturday, local authorities said.
