Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in the murder trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the former street gang leader charged with orchestrating the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed rap star Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas, according to Reuters. Davis, 63, has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon. The group later caught up with a vehicle carrying Shakur and Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight near the Las Vegas Strip. Judge Carli Kierny will preside over the trial in Las Vegas, which is expected to last up to six weeks. Shakur’s killing became one of the most notorious unsolved murder cases in hip-hop history and remains closely associated with the East Coast-West Coast rap rivalry of the 1990s.
