As U.S.-backed efforts continue to unify Libya’s rival eastern and western military institutions, Libya’s Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said unifying the country’s divided military can no longer wait, according to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP). Dbeibah, who also serves as defense minister in the Government of National Unity, made the comments Sunday during a graduation ceremony for cadets from Libya’s military colleges and academies at the Military College in Tripoli. He said uniting the military means including the leadership, decision-making, military doctrine, training, and professional development without excluding stakeholders or allowing one faction to impose its victory on another. The United States has been stepping up its efforts to support military coordination between Libya’s rival eastern and western camps. The talks covered military and security cooperation and efforts to unify Libya’s armed forces.
