The family of Abderrahim Fakir held a funeral ceremony Friday without his body, which remains in the custody of judicial authorities in Bologna as an investigation into his death continues, according to Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino. Fakir’s family traveled from Italy to attend the funeral in Morocco. Their lawyer, Fabio Anselmo, said the family is going through a difficult time but wants to establish the truth and seek justice. Investigators are also examining Fakir’s mobile phone. Six people are involved in the inquiry: the two police officers who detained Fakir and four Red Cross volunteers who were called to the scene.
