There aren’t many track and field athletes who would say they had a mediocre day while setting a world record, but Corinn Brewer isn’t one to pull punches. Brewer broke her own global mark in the 1,500-meter run portion of the women’s decathlon Sunday night with a time of 4 minutes, 50.76 seconds at the Women’s Decathlon World Championships at Oberlin College in Ohio. In addition to the 1,500, Brewer did post another decathlon personal record with a time of 15.69 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Brewer holds the American U20 record for the women’s decathlon with 6,850 points, the eighth-best mark in United States history. There is no women’s decathlon at the NCAA level.
