Every answer matters. This is the slogan for Tuesday’s Census night, where millions of us will sit at the dining table or on the couch — pen or laptop in hand — to answer basic questions about who we, and our families, are. It’s true, the answers do matter. Census data helps governments determine everything from school and hospital funding to public transport routes. It can also shape our own understanding of Australia and how we can make it a better place for all, something to which we all aspire.
