Agencies told to crack the whip on publishing FOI disclosure logs

An Office of the Australian Information Commissioner desktop review of 30 agencies has found 20 did not publish information within 10 working days after FOI access was granted. “Publishing information on disclosure logs is an obligation under the FOI Act, which is intended to support transparency and efficiency,” the review report read. “Disclosure logs highlight information that is frequently sought under the FOI Act and which could be proactively released by agencies. “This is also an effective strategy for reducing multiple FOI requests for the same information.”
