Bangor is set to hire a new fire chief, promoting the interim chief to fill the position permanently. The City Council on Monday night is set to approve Eric Pelletier as the new Bangor fire chief with a four-year contract, according to the council’s meeting agenda. The city’s internal hire replaces the previous chief, Geoffrey Low, who abruptly resigned a year and a half into a three-year contract. Pelletier joined the Bangor Fire Department in 2015 as a lieutenant, working his way up to deputy chief, a position he held for eight years. Before joining Bangor, Pelletier worked at the Hermon Fire Department.
