A former Scarborough police lieutenant has been accused of theft. Timothy Barker, 55, has been indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury on a Class B theft charge, according to the Portland Press Herald. Class B theft involves either stolen goods valued at $10,000 or more, stolen guns or explosives, or a suspect armed at the time of the theft, the newspaper reported. Scarborough police informed the Maine attorney general’s office in December of the alleged theft, and Barker retired on Feb. 2 after 31 years with the department, according to the Press Herald. It’s not known whether the alleged theft involved town property.
