After years of service to Luna County, Probate Judge Diana May-Diaz is preparing to leave office when her current term comes to an end with the year, closing a chapter that has seen the county’s probate court provide assistance to families navigating some of life’s most significant matters. May-Diaz, first elected as Luna County probate judge in 2018, has served through two terms, with an extension under a statewide change in New Mexico law. In 2023, the Legislature aligned probate judge elections with gubernatorial election years, extending terms that otherwise would have expired at the end of 2024 through Dec. 31, 2026.
