The Letterkenny Community Heritage Group is holding a dedication ceremony of the World War 1 memorial at Cathedral Square, on Wednesday, August 19 at 7.30pm. The memorial is in remembrance of all from the Letterkenny area who went to fight in the First World War. A short talk will be given on the idea behind the siting of the memorial in this location, followed by some music and an ecumenical blessing. Members of ONE, the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel, will also be in attendance. The Community Heritage Group would like to send an open invitation to the local community to attend this event and help remember those who never returned.
