Dewhirst secures fifth in World U20 400m hurdles final

Donegal’s Ethan Dewhirst sealed a fifth place finish in the 400m hurdles final at the World Under 20 Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday evening.
The Glenties native was running from the inside lane and he posted a time of 51.05 to secure fifth place in the event.
The gold medal was earned by Czech athlete Michal Rada, with Japan’s Taiju Goto and South Africa’s Matodzi Ndou completing the podium.
AdvertisementUSA’s Miller Warme crossed the line in fourth place, just ahead of the Tir Chonaill Ac athlete, clocking a time of 50.06 around the track.
It’s been a superb showing from Dewhirst, coming second in his heat and finishing third in his semi-final to progress as far as Sunday evening’s final in the United States.
