After ending a 30-match district drought a year ago, the Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball program looks to take the next step under second-year head coach Kristen Grimes – reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2021. The week prior, the Lady Lions will host the Heart of Texas volleyball tournament for the third consecutive year. “Last year was a learning curve for me being new and not knowing this district,” Grimes said. The Lady Lions lost seven seniors from last year’s squad, and return just two who will be seniors this year – Kaydence Chandler and Demayha Hooker. As for the District 6-4A race, the Lady Lions will again tangle with Mineral Wells and last year’s playoff teams Brock, Stephenville, Glen Rose and Graham.
